Subject: RE: Wood Fence Posts in SD?

East central SD
I used a peer built post pounder on the octagon posts. 90% of the posts were fine but when i would have to pound through some hard ground the upper end would get smashed up to where we had to take a chopsaw and saw a few off so the top could be screwed on. They come with self tapping screws and a top. I didnt care for the screws that came with, to small of head. Bought Macs self tappers and worked much better, deeper threads and a bigger head. Followed up on a line we put up a year ago for a third clip and none of the screws had backed out. I like them better than 2 7/8 . So much easier than welding every clip. Well see about longevity.
