Grade 2 is ordinary weldable steel. Grade 5 and 8 are heat treated, so the bolt isn't as strong as it was before you welded on it and the welds can technically have problems. The reality is that I've never had a problem welding on a grade 5 bolt. I would be more concerned about what caused that bolt to break.
