Bennachie,
I don't really have an idea with your walker problem, unless it's due to tailings as someone mentioned.
But on the combine upgrade, I was a bit leary about upgrading also. Whole new ballgame, more expensive to operate etc. We went from a 9650W to S660 2 years ago. Wow, what a difference. Nothing inherently wrong with the walkers, and I think if we could have hung a 12 row head on the 9650 it would have been more efficient. Unload auger is pretty slow, though.
We installed thrashmaster concaves in the 660 this fall, and it will flat push the corn through. Pretty sure we couldn't have touched that many bph with a 9650. I do realize why rotor machines need quite a few repairs to augers/tinwork so soon, because of the sheer bph going through. We're at 1400 sep hr. Redid feederhouse sprockets and chain last yr, pretty sure we need horizontal unloading auger this yr.
1800 acres in 170 sep hrs this yr, with about 800 acres being corn and 375 beans.
