I simply don't see that happening. It would take a hue and cry from the populace for that "benevolent dictator" and the largest movement in the country right now certainly seems to be the Tea Party "small govt" movement. I don't see those folks suddenly calling for a gentle handout from the Gov. Now, certain areas, Detroit, Philly, San Fran, the bluest of the blue? Hell yes, they'd submit in an instant if they thought it benefited them somehow. A nation the size of the U.S. would be awfully hard to rule.
