Is there a brand name on the hoist that you could call the company and ask questions. I had similar issues with my Nordic scissor hoist even with a brand new pump so I called Nordic to find out what sort of hoist I needed. The guy I talked to claimed that i needed 5000 psi to run that hoist to spec. I upped my pressure relief to 4000 and haven't had a problem since
