One thing I'd like to be clear on is that even though it's possible the gov't had a hand in prolonging the depression, I don't think it was intentional - it looks like they were not following an accurate economic model or didn't want to 'take the medicine' that the more accurate model suggested. Maybe they were guilty of trying what was supposed to be an easier way. I can't answer Don G's question, but add another - would the 'medicine' been too hard to take?
