That was quite the story and glad he made it out of there!

There are 3 filled wells on the farm. I helped to fill the one that was near the farm house. It had been dug using a hand cranked post auger and was only about 6-8" wide. The other 2 were older and I think larger diameter but I was not present when Dad had them filled in. One was used for the barns and cattle tank and it had a section of clay tile at least a foot or so diameter to line it. None of these would be large enough to fall into.

Maternal grandparents place had a well and all the remaining site buildings were razed about 12yrs ago so its a field there now. I don't know how big that well was as I never saw inside the pump shack when grandparents lived there. Gotta be a lot of old wells on long gone farm building sites that were filled in (or not).
