Central SD | Our good ground on the best years produces 200 bu corn and 60+ bu soybeans. The lesser soil is a small fraction of this. It’s the variability from year to year that is so much different from the real corn belt. I know of no business that is guaranteed success. Farming should be no different.
I may be blaming too much on crop insurance sole responsibility as there is a new govt. giveaway pretty much every day it seems. There have been so many I can’t keep the acronyms straight any more. Some revisions in the crop insurance program are necessary though I do believe. | |
