Central SD | It just depends I guess. Are you talking 3.50 corn or 6.50? The guarantees that crop insurance provides raising corn or even soybeans incentivizes them so you forget about other crop options entirely. I likely have a lower cost of production per unit than most I state producers but live in an area that is far more variable year to year. Crop insurance as it is today is raising my cost of production as land costs increase. I am totally fine with doing away with federal subsidized crop insurance but let’s make some other real cuts in the budget also. I think there are very few in Washington willing to make such considerations. Likely any money saved is going to fund another overseas war. | |
