I'm just kidding. Looks like a neat event you've got going there.
There would be a fairly substantial yield penalty involved, those old snapping rolls heads shell like crazy. No wonder pheasants were so prolific in the 50’ and 60’s, then all but disappeared during the 70’s, when pickers were replaced with combines that had stripper plates on corn heads. Go to half century show in Rantoul and wander around in the harvested corn and it will make a guy about sick to see that much loss. The later IH pickers used stripper plates, and do a very nice job though.
