| N.E. Ne. about average moisture for the end of '09, but was damp and cloudy quite often with very little sunshine, hence wet crops. Did get winter wheat in but do not know if it will survive the extreme cold we had.... down to 35 below. have a LOT of snow, with most of it on piles or in corn fields that did not get harvested. There is about 2 - 3 % of the corn in and there will definitely be some loss because of the wind driven snow. There was some tillage done, but less than 10%. Am getting seed corn lined up but do not know if I will be able to get all the acres planted with the big drifts..... may have to plan for some different crop where the snowbanks are. Won't get too excited, things can change is a hurry around this area. | |
