nw NC | Most of the river and smaller stream ( creeks) bottoms in this area of North Carolina are always planted in corn. If there is flooding, soybeans or small grains are generally destroyed. Young corn could be damaged, but in tall corn, water doesn't usually get over the ears, so not much damage. However, my friend had corn in a river bottom that flooded so deep that the only thing showing on twelve foot tall corn was the top leaf and tassels. It was chopped for silage. | |
