| The whole benefit of a heat pump water heater is that it's technically 200+% efficient. Just like your home AC it's taking heat from the air and pumping it elsewhere (in this case into the water). From what I've read your typical heat pump water heater starts at a Coefficient of Performance of at least 2. So for every watt if power put into it, 2 watts of heat are pumped into the water with the difference between those two numbers coming from the ambient air.
Now whether that efficiency gain is still worth the added complexity and reduced reliability.... | |
