Triticale will be more like wheat then rye. It gets taller then wheat, but doesn't get "stringy" like the rye will. We have gotten away from planting rye to chop off in the spring. Been planting bin run wheat and triticale the last few years. We let it go to head before chopping too. Can usually cut in the morning and start chopping after lunch most days.
