SC Wisconsin | I haul penpack/slop/partially composted manure with an old dump truck, 13.5' box on it. I love that thing and only way I'll get rid of it is to upgrade to a bigger truck or go to a semi like you're talking. I'm getting away from spring manure hauling to go only spreading fall/early winter. Most hauls are 5 miles or less, you can move a lot of manure fast with a truck when you figure the road speed and the dumping speed over a tractor and spreader. The floor on mine is pretty beat up and doesn't have a liberal and still don't have a problem getting anything out of it unless I overfill it with dry stuff and it hangs up on the top of the tailgate when dumping. Pay attention to loading height though depending what you have to load it, my smaller skidsteer only clears the sidewalls by a few inches and it's not a super tall box to begin with. Truck is spring ride, if height is an issue look for low sidewalls and/or air ride trailer so you can dump the air to load | |
