| Iam 4.5 years post surgery, I had mine out with Di vinci robot. I had the cath for a week, it was more an annoyance than anything. I just used the large bag and carried it in a bucket around the house. I had a pair of sweats that snapped up the side, I could route the cath hose out the side. It was easier to just stay home. I didnt try to use the leg bag under my clothes and go out of the house.
Pain wasnt bad, used nothing but Tylenol after day of surgery. Ask the Dr if he can do nerve sparing during the surgery. Allow yourself time to heal, do what the dr says, you dont want to undo what he does in there. It took a lot longer to get my energy back than I thought it would, and it was a very gradual improving. I took 6 weeks off, then when I started working again i would do some light work for an hour or two, by then I would be really tired and I would go to the house and rest for awhile, then go back out for an hour or so. Others I talked to said the same thing. Good thing about being a farmer I could do things on my own time.
Things will be different and there will be a new normal on some things. Incontenence was never a problem for me, but I started doing Kegle excercises during the 2 months waiting for surgery and I think that helped. You will have to learn to do those after they pull the cath. Things will feel different in there, but you'll learn to deal with it.
4 and half years past, My PSA is staying down and the surgery is a distant memory. You'll be fine, just be patient on the recovery
