They are politically untenable, at best.
Let's say, let's take a product(ethanol) and subsidize it by NEARLY ONE THIRD of it's current price(E spot price $1.78, "blenders credit" $.50, plus tax credits) and then REQUIRE people to use it, generally at a loss of fuel efficiency of as much as 10%???? C,mon, calling for these mandates is just plain idiotic.
