Malta, Illinois | The corn is small enough that it can withstand this dry spell with some heat pretty well. There is so much variability across Illinois and I am thinking it might be the same for Iowa and Indiana. It's not a bad time to be dry but it will need to rain sometime in June. I dug some roots yesterday and was quite surprised how much moisture there is past the 2" mark. We had some rain a couple of weeks ago though and not too many areas did. Another two weeks without rain will have yards looking brown in a few places but at this stage it isn't hurting the corn much. | |
