I think what Lansworth is saying is....The USDA is making crop estimated based on volumetric bushels (ie assuming 56# TW) while Lansworth is using weight bushels (ie not counting "bushels" by volume, but taking weight of crop and dividing by 56).......

A 300 bushel truckoad of feathers may be 300 bushels, but it does not weigh (300 times 56) 16,800 pounds, but on the other hand a net truckload of corn weighing 16,800 pounds is in fact 300 bushels of corn......if you put the same "VOLUME" of 52 pound corn in that truck it certainly will not weigh 16,800 pounds.................
