| This Lanworth bunch really takes the cake. Volumetric yields? How do you suppose the elevators surveyed react to that question?
"USDA's methodology, which relies on farmer surveys and objective yield data from designated fields, doesn't fully account for test weight, the principal problem with the crop, Kouchoukos said"
11,200 lbs. of corn is 200 bu, is it not? Now if it's 52# test wt. is it still not 200 bu? Lanworth says it's 215.38 bu.? I've never heard of anyone ever seriously debate something like that. Must think the country thinks in terms of "volumetric ylds" & only they are smart enough to distinguish between them and weight derived yields? Maybe why I see my neighbors pouring grain into bushel baskets and counting them before putting them in the bin. lol
Guess if I were in hot negotiations with DTN to sell them my firm for a bunch of "blue sky" I'd come up with a dandy excuse too. | |
