Subject: Lanworth's reporting numbers

NW Ohio
Just read a couple of articles on DTN about Lanworth, Inc and their crop numbers. In the past two years 2007 & 2008 they came within 1% of USDA's numbers.
Their 2009 totals on corn were a 155.7bpa and a total of 12.318 billion bushels of corn. That folks, is 1 billion, yes 1 billion bushels less than USDA numbers. According to the article, they survey elevators and take into account the lower tests weights that have been widely known.
Can you imagine what the futures market would've done had the USDA numbers came out like that?
The article also mentioned that the USDA numbers will probably work back closer to Lanworth's numbers, (maybe about halfway). In the meantime however I just the farm economy will just have to suffer.
