Red River Valley
SC you are correct the farmer only need look in the Mirror to find the answer's the farmer got a god send from the funds in the spring of 08 and everybody said we had to go higher we could not feed the world that was at $24.00 wheat , $8.00 corn and $16.00 beans problem was that the world could not afford to feed itself and our compatition ( think Black sea ) decided they could feed the world so while we farmers in the US ran up the only expense we control ( land ) faster than any other expense and all along didn't sell grain we now need someone to blame and as we know blaming the man in the mirror is not what we do.

It is my beleif that we will go into a down trend until grain prices make the high cost producers say uncle and with land cost in the US up 5 fold from a few years ago it will be the US farmer that has to say uncle.

good farm land in this country is overpriced by 60 % IMHO

everybody that supplies us has taken a haircut in the last year the guy who supplies the farmland will take the next haircut.

The USDA did not do this to us we did this to ourself's as a matter of fact the USDA gave the farmers a couple of major breaks on this report
1) They kept corn exports unchanged at 200 mb over last year when the pace is about 100 MB under
2) They moved feed up a 150 mb with fewer critters on feed
3) They kept soybean crush up with fewer critters and more ddg's

The funds have given us many chances to lay off risk at some very good prices if you have not taken advantage of these look to the man in the mirror for the answer's.

If you think the USDA has and agenda to keep food prices low why would they not have adjusted these ?
