Mascoutah, Illinois | I got that gut feeling this guy could be speculating in the grain market using your grain. Does he have any other contracts with folks like the one he is trying to set up with you?
Maybe the guy got extremely lucky and speculated 18 months back and sold some $7.00 corn to these places and now he is using your grain and others to fill his contracts.
I would see if he would move up to 18 cents below Chicago just to get a feel for this gentleman.
I would be a bit nervous until he gave me a list of other folks he might be doing this kind of contract with. You do not want to run into a situation where the guy is speculating and he is forced to liquidate leaving you and everyone on the hook.
