John, I just follow the macd system and use it to time my grain sales. It says short term dollar is gonna head lower. In the long run conventional wisdom says dollar goes lower. Short interest rates will be kept at .5% or lower for a looooong time so the too big to fail banks can work their way out of their upside down balance sheet problem through the dollar carry trade. The supply side of the dollar equasion says that dollar moves lower as a greater supply of something means a cheaper value absent greater demand. Many foreign creditor nations have told us that they are reducing dollar denominated assets. A major financial dislocation could cause a flight to dollars though.
Here are some reasons gold is coming into favor as a store of wealth:
1.It is durable
2. divisible,
3. consistent
4. convenient
5. and has value in and of itself

BUT MOST OF ALL "It can't be created out of thin air"

I got that from Casey Research !
