Do you think we'll have enough of a sell off to make the puts work? You are not getting a lot of time value and you are counting on something significant happening soon. Some of the 'monkeys' (analysts as characterized by msb) seem to think we're range bound for the short term - could be the reason to take your put position (the opposite is going to happen). On the other hand are the funds really telegraphing their buying move scheduled for Jan 5th through the 12th? If so, a call would be the way to go....

If you were fast at getting the position sold, you could always hope for another sell signal glitch on a decimal point.

My incorrect opinion is that things don't change much, maybe a quick run up for a few days, but then back to the range - good news is your put value shouldn't go down too much in the short term either - maybe a safe play?
