You could cut your fruit sugar down a lot by going away from the pears and apples and going to berries. The strawberries along with blackberries, blueberries and rasberries are all lower in sugar than other fruits.
Natural fiber in foods (not added fiber in processed foods) will slow down the digestion and make the blood sugar spike less. The sugar is all still there, it is just metabolized more slowly so the spikes in blood sugar are not as pronounced.
I look for full fat cheeses and try to avoid the low fat stuff. The fat, kind of like the fiber in the whole vegetables, slows the digestion down of the carb component of the dairy products.
I know lol, but strawberries are about the only berry I like. I just like the taste of this low fat Swiss costco sells. They have a full variety of provolone thats the best also. I usually get that but they haven't had it last month or so.
Thats what I had gathered too. The fiber slows down the absorption of the sugar. Hence sugar from a strawberry isn't the same as a snickers bar.
You know I honestly think everyone is genetically a little different. We all need to find out what works for our own bodies. Take a overall healthy diet/eating plan then tweak it to suite yourself. But high protein low carb and limited processed food is the way to go.
I was reading something a while back and I think the average American eats something like 400 + carbs a day. That is mind blowing. |
