There are access panels that can be installed for this purpose. I’m not sure what stores like Home Depot or Lowes Offer in the way of access panels but I recall seeing quite a variety at a specialty plumbing store that also offered commercial products .
I’d lean towards an interior access than exterior. Hope you get it fixed.
