East of Broken Bow | We had a similar problem here, in our house. Asked a plumber friend what to do. He asked if it would be easy to re-locate the water pipes and drain. I said yes, underneath has good access from the basement. The shower stall wasn't that great anyway. So, what we wound up doing, was getting a different shower stall, with the holes for the plumbing at the other end, and ran new pipes (was super easy to re-locate using PEX, he even loaned me his crimper tool over a weekend). The shower sat in a nook, with walls on 3 sides, so we took the drywall off the back side of the opposite wall, hooked the water up, and then put a 'permanent' shelf over the hole. If the pipes ever leak again, we'll just remove the screws that hold it in place, and there it will be. Got a shelf with a back to it, and didn't even cover the hole in the drywall, just smoothed it over some so the shelf would sit tight. | |
