Subject: RE: Weight loss/diet help

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
I'm a firm believer in moderation. Cutting out pop is something I need to do. But I don't think I need to cut it out completely. I believe we need to enjoy the things we really want to enjoy. Life is too short if you sacrifice too much and then not enjoy it.
One of the main things told to me is don't eat just before going to bed. Have 2 hours at least between last meal and going to sleep. Might take a little planning but that works. Also, try to make that last meal a light one.
Drink plenty of water.
If your out moving around and etc most days with work or kids, don't worry too much about additional exercise. If you can, great, but just moving around no matter what you are doing still has benefit.
Reduce sugar intake. That's tough for me as I have a sweet tooth. I'm not going to cut out everything I like, just eat less of it.
Keep the junk food out of the house.
Don't skip meals. Breakfast is important. I have found if I have an egg or two for breakfast I don't get hungry near as fast as when I eat my usually cereal which some have way too much sugar.
Keep a positive attitude. Don't weigh yourself every day. Probably once a week is enough. If you can lose 2-3 lbs per week on average your doing just fine. I'd rather see a person lose at a slow steady pace than lose 10 or 20 lbs. in a week or two then gain it back. My doctor says its worse to have your weight bounce up and down than be a little overweight but be at a steady weight.
One more. Use smaller plates. Makes it look like your eating more or it limits how much you can put on a plate.
