Wisconsin | You've got to really step back and look at all aspects of the existing house before a project like this. I've seen it done, never thought it was a good solution. The best additions I've seen have been bigger than the existing house, and make the old existing part look like the added on portion. That would be my first choice, a generously sized addition using the existing utilities. It's easy to turn an old small kitchen into a great mudroom, the rest of the space can be living room, bedrooms, whatever. Put the real work and money into the new construction where it's cheaper to work than trying to remodel the old. | |
