Pittsburg, Kansas | Wife and I normally skip breakfast. 12-18 hours after supper we eat lunch. Two meals a day. With adequate meat and fat at supper do not get hungry till about mid day the next day.
Probably eating breakfast and lunch, and skipping supper, would be slightly better. But it just does not fit our lifestyle or social interactions.
So we practice intermittant fasting or probably better described as time restricted feeding. The idea behind it is it allows insulin levels do drop off to low levels. A person can not burn body fat with high insulin levels. Carbs cause insulin levels to rise. Eating carbs too often keeps insulin levels high all the time. Insulin levels high all the time causes the body to become insulin resistant. Insulin resistance leads to lack of possible weight loss and eventual potential for diabetes. Solution? Simple. Just cut out most of the carbs so insulin goes low for a number of hours during the day. Insulin sensativity restored. The amount of time it takes to do so will depend on how bad a person has the condition. Me with 30+ years of diabetes takes longer than a person who has only recently had the problem.
