| I mentioned below that I had a few statistics about this. They are, FWIW, from a source I have a lot of trust in.
"There are help-wanted signs everywhere. Why? . . . states such as New Mexico where the number of people on welfare amounts to 21,125 per 100k and that includes everyone - not just adults employed."
"Between food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid, and other benefits, the average U.S.household below the poverty line received $168.00 per day in government support."
"the average household income in America is just over $50,000, which averages out to $137.13 a day."
Anyway, I thought these were interesting figures. They go a long way, I think, to explaining why people do not want to go back to work. I guess the question is - why should we expect anything other than stagflation ahead? It is interesting to me that these days I have been reading about Big Money moving into agricultural land. When everyone is searching for a safe haven, can there be such a thing anymore? | |
