OK-Finally I've decided to use 2" suction hose - Now do I use standard
conduit clamps such as the ones available at Home Depot or is there something
else I should consider? Heavier maybe?

Ks
Go to the chain link fence section and get the corner post tension clamps. They are 2 3/8", I had to reshape them a little bit and drill the hole out but soon had a one man assembly line rolling that took an hour to place one every 18" on a 30' head.

I purchased conduit clamps from the elec supply house, but they were too large for the hose I was using. I put an extra piece of hose under the clamp to take up the space and make a better fit. They did not have enough for me to do the job so I made some out of pipe. Cut a piece of pipe in 2" sections, the cut the pipe in half and welded a flat iron to one side and bolted it to the cutter bar. Less cost than purchasing, but it took some time.

I took a piece of the hose with me to an electrical supply house to find a conduit clamp that would fit very snugly over the hose.

The clamps/combine are at the other farm (rained again last night) but I'm thinking I ended up using smaller than 2" inch clamps for the snug fit on my 2" hose. I think there are slightly different clamps used for plastic and metal conduit so it pays to take that short piece of hose with you. Also keep in your mind the bolts you will be attacheing them with and the size you need for those.

Mine worked out well that they did not interfere with the backbone of the knife but that could be a consideration that may need some grinding on the clamp to address.

Subject: Von, how do you like it?

Martinsville, Ohio

Never seen one like yours.  How well does it work?  What provoked you I mean gave you the idea to do it?  Maybe I missed the discussion on here.

How is harvest coming?  Really hit low gear here with the rain finally, 3.5-4.8 inches on our farms.
