I have a new style calc-an-acre with the magnetic run/hold sensor. Of course i was too cheap to buy the official microtrak cable so I'm using a reed switch that I wired in myself. I'm using it to shut my calc-an-acre off when my grain drill is raised out of the ground.
The question is, can i also wire in a relay to turn off my liquid fertilizer. There is 12v running through that sensor. So couldn't you use it to power one of those little KC Highlights head light relays?
I think I have enough room to put in another reed switch but using a single sensor would make a neater installation.

I am sure you can use one switch for two functions. Or why not use a double pole relay and have one relay that controls more than on function controlled by one switch.

Well, I want to use the 12v coming out of the calc-an-acre to the run/hold magnetic switch to run a relay. I'm not sure it would work like a boom switch on a spray monitor.

You can use a single throw double pole switch. I did that years ago to stop the spray boom and the acre counter at the same time. You can then use the acre counter by itself by just shutting off the booms with their respective switch. I mounted the switch on the hyd lever that I use to raise implements. This method has worked great for jeez 20 some years now.

If it's like a flowtrak don't put any load or voltage on the run hold switch. Check with microtrak tech to make sure. Number is on their website .

I'm thinking the easy thing to do is call customer support!

That is the reason for the double pole switch. One side has power the other doesn't.
