Subject: Sandbox farming part 2

Just caught up with the thread down the page about sandbox farming.

Most of the farm toys I had were for carpet farming Sometimes they would make it out to the fine dirt of the flower bed but they were always taken care of and brought back in at night.

Who else had jars of beans or wheat they would haul in their wagons ? Who else got yelled out for dribbling seed all over the carpet when things got spilled :-)

My Dad's uncle had a knack for woodworking and making small items out of metal. He made me a cultipacker complete with 2 little pup ones to pull behind the big disk I had. Used to use a 5020 to pull that rig later graduated to the first 4 wheel drive tractor I had.

Also my Dad made me a light for those late night carpet farming days of childhood. Basically a couple paper clips twisted together around a flashlight bulb that clipped on a D cell battery. Then you could rubber band the whole thing to any tractor. In the early seventies that was a huge deal to have something like a working light. Long before the electronic action toys of today that require zero imagination. In those days I could re-create anything that happened in real life with the farm toys.

Anyhow thanks for bringing back the memories with the original thread. Thought I would share a few pics of some of my favorite farm toys, the light, and the favorite Tonka stuff.

All this has been retired now. I always was careful and took care of my toys much like I try to do with my real machines now.
