| I am considering trying to purchase a set of 750 drills on a houck hitch. I am trying to run some numbers as to what a fair custom rate is for planting wheat with this drill. I can pretty well nail down the costs other than repairs. I understand this is dependent on soil types but I was hoping some people wouldn't mind sharing their repair costs/acre. I would like a good number including overall replacement costs of boots, blades, bearings, etc. Also, a rough idea of how long a set of boots/blades lasts in a fairly heavy clay soil would help a lot too.
I am a younger person who would like to farm and with fall help hard to find I think I could do this successfully and while I won't get rich I hope to get myself out in front of potential renters to show them the high quality job I can do.
