Subject: Henderson Castration Method

West Central Illinois
Has anyone on here had calves castrated this way? (with the cordless drill attachment) Had two 550 lb steers cut this way on Friday by a new vet in town. Never had seen this done but he swears by it. Anyway...got the calves home and yesterday they looked terrible. Scrotum really swollen and cords are visible and swollen as well. Calves appear to be miserable at the moment. Called him up and he came to look and said they look normal for the procedure. Always had them banded in the past and thus far from what I have seen I prefer banding to this method. I am worried about infection and flies. Vet hit them both with long acting Pen and tetanus before we left. Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks
