Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa | We installed a water softener system when we built the house in 1974 due to issues beyond just hard water. Quite a few years ago, I switched over to potassium salt for the softener, because (I thought) I could taste the sodium in our water when we used NaCl, and there was enough salt in the water to kill houseplants. When we first started using KCl, it was around $6/40# bag, and have watched it inch up over the years. I was shocked when it topped $11/bag some time ago, but not enough to change. Then a couple months ago, it had gone up to $15.82/bag. Holy cow! But I still bought it. Until today. Menard's price today for a 40# bag of KCl was $24.98!!
So, the question.................what's the best of the (much cheaper) NaCl products to use now?? Not using the softener is not an option.
Thanks! |
