Subject: Vitamin C Soup

Blooming where I am planted!

Just made this soup yesterday.  Kind of a thrown-together concoction I made while trying to figure out what to do with bacon drippings, and chicken I got on a ultra-cheap deal.  Turned out REALLY tasty!  I took some to my friend who had a cold and she loved it!

Vitamin C Soup

Meat from 1 chicken (cooked or uncooked--mine came from a roasted chicken bought at the store)
Bacon drippings from 1 lb. bacon
2 chicken buillion cubes
1 quart big-chunk tomatoes (I used some of my home-canned tomatoes)
salt
pepper
paprika
1/2 or 2/3 to 3/4 cup lemon juice
2 TB olive oil
1 whole BULB garlic (not 1 clove, 1 whole BULB), put through a garlic press
tortellini (any flavor--I used cheese)

Fry the chicken in the bacon drippings, add salt, pepper, and paprika.  When almost done, put chicken and bacon drippings into a big soup pot.  Add some water, then the buillion, tomatoes, lemon juice, olive oil, and garlic.  Add more salt and pepper if desired.  Simmer for about an hour or so, more or less, less or more.  Toward the end of cooking, add in your tortellini until the pasta is done.  Then the soup is done.  Enjoy!
