Subject: What kind of float do you have on water troughs?

Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot
We have a number of small water troughs in pastures. Mostly just for summer use and it rarely freezes hard here during the summer, so we just have buried waterlines to frost free faucets, with garden hose type floats on them. Seems to work well except the "Little Giant" floats (the little square aluminum or plastic ones) we've been buying aren't that durable. Seems I'm always fooling with them. See a "Hudson" type valve that looks a little better, are they?

Just need something simple to hang on the lip of smaller steel or Rubbermaid troughs. I unhook these and pull them out during the winter, so I don't want to bury a line up through the bottom of the tank. It would be nice for them to be able to take a good frost, sometimes in the spring or fall it will still get cold enough at night to freeze them solid.

Thanks.
