Subject: Could RTK cause Omnistar Interference?

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
We have a customer using Omnistar XP for correction on a Trimble 332 which is feeding an Autopilot. He felt that he was getting along fine until he moved to a field where the neighbors were using an RTK system (brand unknown -probably Trimble). Apparently these neighbors were using a portable transmitter that they had temporarily setup in the adjoining field.

He indicated that he lost convergence and the system switched back to VBS. He said it continually tried the convergence procedure throughout the field. Once these neighbors left the field, the convergence was successful.

Does this seem possible? Is it possible that the RTK from the neighbors was in fact causing this problem or is this a mere coincidence?

I would think that the frequencies should be enough different not to cause interference. However I would suspect that the power from the portable transmitter would be considerably greater than that coming in from the Omnistar satellite.

Any thoughts?
