Central ND | Not new to the soybean game by any means. Have grown them about 10 years now. But how do you go about choosing a soybean seed for your farm? Yes, talk to the agronomists and what not. But they only really know about the seed they carry. And then you venture out to yield data from different plots/companies/brands outside of your agronomy center and it can just be overwhelming. Have so many options outside of our many agronomy center, it's hard not to look elsewhere. Next thing you know it's been a couple hours and a person is no closer to choosing a clear winner than when they started.
And yea, I understand choosing the right maturity, traits, etc. but it just seems there's not a clear winner or really even a top 5 that stand out.
I just look at all the companies of soybean seed and options and wow,
Legend
Brevant
Croplan
Proseed
Asgrow
Allegiant
Integra
Legacy
Dyna-Gro
NK Seeds
Golden Harvest
LG Seeds
Latham
Xitavo
And so on and on
Yes we could just stick with the variety we've grown in the past, but if you don't keep up with current varieties, eventually it seems your yield is way behind.
