Subject: Heavy duty lawn edging.

Iowa
About 5 years ago I finish graded around my house.

2' out from the house I drove wooden stakes in the ground and screwed 1x4s to them. Used the laser to set the stakes and a string line to keep it straight.

Put landscape fabric down and filled the area closest to the house with river rock and pushed black dirt up against the other side and graded it out with a good slope away from the house.

It looked nice for about a year. Frost heave shoved the boards out and the border got wavy looking. I knew it was probably temporary when I installed it all.

All the backfill around the house should be good and settled by now so I'm ready to do something more permanent.

How crazy would it be to use those concrete parking stops for edging? I'd dig a shallow trench for them to sit in and backfill around them. All straight runs so It would be easy to install.
They're heavy so while it wouldn't eliminate frost heave I would think it would help? Good idea/ Bad idea?

I'm open to suggestions. I'm not a landscaper as I'm sure is obvious by now.
Thanks.
