Alberta | It's not my original idea. I found it on the internet and modified a bit. This is a double gate that is opened many times per day for calving season, and I do not want to fiddle with chains every time I go through. I spent quite a bit of time looking for something simple and practical as there are not a lot of options for a double swinging gate. We had sliding latch on the previous rusted and worn-out gates, which was great, but the cows would scratch on the handle and open it periodically if it was not locked with a pin. The weight of this on holds it in place, and a cow would have to lift it pretty high to open it. This one may be a finger pincher, but if that happened I can add a D handle to it.
