Subject: Should deck plates be flat to one another

Ottawa, Ontario
The hydraulic deck plates are lower than the fixed plate. If you were able to move them close enough they would overlap each other instead of butting up to one another. Is this common ?

I’ve always thought they should be flat but see nowhere to adjust, unless I can shim the low one ?

It is a 2011 New Holland 98D
