Farmington, Mo | Landowner called me today wanting to know if we had a water trailer with water on it. I said, yes but only about 800 gallons. He said, well…the field is on fire and you better bring what you got real quick because I can’t get it out by hand!
Knowing we had a healthy cover of killed rye cover and small soybeans, 90 plus temps and a steady breeze I figured we better be quick!!! I called the fire department on the way to the fire. Landowner was there along with the three of us and we were able to put it out in 5 minutes. FD showed up just as we were finishing up.
Come to find out, neighbor kid, who is also a volunteer fireman at our department saw the car that started it drive by his house. Apparently, some crack head drove through a fence, blew out his tire and kept driving. He ran it till the tire fell off and continued to drive on the bare rim all while dragging barbed wire and T-posts along on the pavement showering sparks everywhere! What a ****show…
Cops finally caught up with him a 1/4 mile outside of town…a full 15 plus miles after he first had the tire malfunction…these dope heads are getting more plentiful all the time…just glad there wasn’t more damage, but it could have been so much worse!
