Subject: JD 8630 Heating

Regina/ 14 miles South of Moose Jaw Saskatchewan
An older fellow in our area has an 8630 with a 50 series engine that he's having some grief with... He's not pulling much of a load - but tractor temp is running high... He's had a couple of go rounds with actually blowing the rad cap & coolant out the rad... He claims temp takes a while to rise up - but then stays hot (just below to just on the red)

The history on things - the tractor rad got packed with oil & dirt - not sure how well he's been able to get the rad cleaned out - he had put new thermostats in last year - he tried running without the stats in - still runs warm....

This fellow calls to tell his woes - but won't accept help or hire a mechanic to look at... don't know much about these tractors - but any suggestions of what to look for would be appreciated - would a blown head gasket cause this? - how good is the cooling system on these tractors (ie if 30 of the rad is restricted, do they show that on the temp gauge by a quite a bit?)

Many thanks

Doug W.
