Subject: Baling Corn stalks

Northern Illinois
How does Vermeer 605K or 605L series balers work for corn stalks? I like the Vermeer 605M series, but they are still too many dollars for my operation. Also what is the best method to harvest the stalks? We have a custom service that has been using Heartland choppers on front of Deere 667 balers. He has now stated that he will not be custom baling next year as he is expanding his crop & cattle operation. I am considering to only use twine on corn stalk bales. The last few years, I hate removing ice frozen netwrap from corn stalk bales. I realize the netwrap is faster to bale and will maintain better bale shape, but I usually use all of the bales for feed or bedding by spring.
