USDA Weekly Export Sales Report

Corn

Actual Sales (in metric tons -- MT) 1,176,600 MT:

Trade Expectations 600,000 to 800,000 MT
Weekly Sales Details Net sales of 1,141,400 metric tons were 22 percent above the previous week, but 16 percent below the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for South Korea (368,300 MT), Japan (359,300 MT), Mexico (177,600 MT), Israel (88,300 MT), the Dominican Republic (62,400 MT), Saudi Arabia (41,900 MT, switched from unknown destinations), and Guatemala (41,700 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (202,800 MT). Net sales of 35,200 MT for delivery in 2008/09 were for Mexico (54,500 MT), Nicaragua (4,000 MT), and Canada (2,300 MT). Decreases of 25,600 MT were for Colombia.
Weekly Export Details: Exports of 1,411,500 MT were 23 percent above the previous week and 8 percent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Japan (482,700 MT), Mexico (239,700 MT), South Korea (167,800 MT), Colombia (72,100 MT), Algeria (70,300 MT), Taiwan (67,300 MT), Egypt (58,200 MT), and Saudi Arabia (41,900 MT).
Comments and Performance Indicators Sales were above expectations. Export commitments are 31% ahead of year-ago compared to 30% above the prior week.
Wheat

Weekly Sales Details Net sales of 101,000 metric tons were 22 percent above the previous week, but 70 percent under the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for Japan (64,100 MT), Nigeria (61,800 MT, including 30,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 12,000 MT), Indonesia (60,100 MT, including 58,100 MT switched from unknown destinations), Morocco (42,200 MT, including 45,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 2,800 MT), Guatemala (32,600 MT), Mexico (28,900 MT), and Venezuela (16,200 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (241,400 MT). Net sales of 137,500 MT for delivery in 2008/09 were mainly for unknown destinations (95,000 MT), Mexico (24,500 MT), and Nigeria (12,000 MT).
Weekly Export Details: Exports of 610,700 MT were 12 percent above the previous week and 15 percent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Japan (103,000 MT), Nigeria (102,500 MT), Iraq (95,700 MT), the Philippines (55,300 MT), South Korea (51,000 MT), Morocco (42,200 MT), and Venezuela (36,700 MT).
Comments and Performance Indicators Sales were below trade expectations. Export commitments are 56% ahead of year ago compared to 59% ahead the prior week.
Soybeans

Actual Sales (in metric tons -- MT) 630,600 MT

Weekly Sales Details Net sales of 630,600 MT were up 92 percent from the previous week, but unchanged from the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for China (248,600 MT, including 55,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Mexico (159,000 MT), Taiwan (77,600 MT), Portugal (71,600 MT, including 70,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Syria (42,200 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (68,800 MT).
Weekly Export Details: Exports of 942,400 MT were down 8 percent from the previous week, but up 3 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (516,600 MT), Portugal (71,600 MT), Syria (69,200 MT), South Korea (57,800 MT), Mexico (57,700 MT), and Japan (55,300 MT).
Comments and Performance Indicators Sales were within trade expectations. Soybean export commitments are up 2% from year-ago compared to up 2% the prior week.
Soymeal

Weekly Sales Details Net sales of 48,600 MT were 54 percent below the previous week and 77 percent under the prior 4-week average. Increases for the Dominican Republic (23,800 MT), Guatemala (21,300 MT), Colombia (14,100 MT), Mexico (5,300 MT), Vietnam (3,600 MT), South Korea (3,400 MT), and Japan (3,400 MT), were partially offset by decreases for Canada (32,200 MT), the French West Indies (2,800 MT), and unknown destinations (1,600 MT). Net sales of 31,700 MT for delivery in 2008/09 were for Canada (31,000 MT) and Nicaragua (600 MT).
Weekly Export Details: Exports of 190,000 MT were 3 percent over the previous week and 23 percent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were South Korea (58,400 MT), Colombia (25,100 MT), Mexico (24,300 MT), Canada (22,300 MT), Turkey (17,800 MT), and Japan (10,300 MT).
Comments and Performance Indicators Sales were below expectations. Export commitments are 3% ahead of year-ago compared to 7% ahead of year-ago the prior week.
Soyoil

Actual Sales (in metric tons -- MT) 27,000 MT
Trade Expectations 10,000 to 20,000 MT
Weekly Sales Details Net sales of 27,000 MT were primarily for unknown destinations (14,500 MT) and the Dominican Republic (10,000 MT).
Weekly Export Details: Exports of 92,000 MT were mainly to China (20,000 MT), Venezuela (16,500 MT), Morocco (15,500 MT), South Korea (9,800 MT), Guatemala (9,000 MT), and Hong Kong (8,000 MT).
Comments and Performance Indicators Sales were above expectations. Export commitments are up 93% from year-ago compared to up 87% from year ago the prior week.
Cotton

Actual Sales (in running bales -- RB) 535,600 RB:

Trade Expectations 200,000 to 250,000 RB
Weekly Sales Details Net Upland sales of 483,800 running bales were two and one-quarter times the previous week and the prior 4-week average. The primary buyer was China (276,600 RB), with lesser amounts for Thailand (40,300 RB), Indonesia (33,100 RB), Turkey (27,200 RB), and Vietnam (15,500 RB). Net Upland sales of 51,800 RB for delivery in marketing year 2008/09 were for Mexico (48,000 RB) and Thailand (3,800 RB).
Weekly Export Details: Exports of 207,300 RB were up 2 percent from the previous week and 15 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (52,800 RB), Mexico (29,900 RB), Turkey (23,900 RB), Thailand (15,300 RB), Hong Kong (14,600 RB), and Indonesia (14,300 RB). Net American Pima sales of 10,300 RB were primarily for Indonesia (3,400 RB), India (2,300 RB), Pakistan (1,700 RB), and Thailand (1,700 RB). Exports of 17,900 RB were mainly to India (6,400 RB), Pakistan (3,600 RB), Turkey (3,300 RB), and Japan (1,800 RB).
Comments and Performance Indicators Sales were well above expectations. Export commitments are 26% ahead of year-ago compared to 26% ahead the prior week.
