Subject: Knee surgery - local regional hospital or Mayo Clinic?

West Central Iowa
I am 56 years old and having knee pain and it is getting to the point where I need to have something done. I am debating whether to have it done at a local (15 miles away) regional hospital or go 4-1/2 hours to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. The local hospital has a orthopedic surgeon that has a pretty good reputation as far as I have heard and I know the local hospital would be a lot more convenient, but I have a daughter that works at the Mayo clinic (pharmacist) and lives in Rochester and I could stay at her place some if needed. As far as the after surgery therapy, I could have that done locally either way.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks!
Pat
